Dr Mujtaba Ahmed

Dr Mujtaba Ahmed is a formally qualified Consultant Physician and Geriatrician. He trained in United Kingdom and was awarded Membership of Royal Colleges of Physicians, UK (MRCP). He came to Australia in 2008 and completed his specialist physician training towards dual fellowship in Internal (General) Medicine and Geriatric Medicine at The Princess Alexandra Hospital, The Prince Charles Hospital and QEII Hospital.

Dr Ahmed became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2014 specialising in Geriatric Medicine and Internal Medicine. He started as Consultant Physician at Logan hospital and has private consultation rooms as part of Southside Specialist Medical & Geriatric Centre. He also has visiting rights at Sunnybank Private Hospital.

Dr Ahmed is involved with teaching medical students and he is also a supervisor for basic and advanced physician trainees.

Dr Mujtaba Ahmed believes in holistic patient centred care and early comprehensive geriatric assessment. He has special interests in diagnosis and management of dementia, fall prevention and Osteoporosis management, Parkinson's disease, Stroke and incontinence.

Dr Kah Wai Chan

Dr Kah Wai Chan grew up in Singapore and graduated from Trinity College, Ireland in 2000. He relocated to Brisbane and underwent his specialist training in SE Queensland. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians specialising in Geriatric Medicine in 2014.

Dr Chan has private consultation rooms as part of Southside Specialist Medical & Geriatric Centre and runs his private outpatient clinics at multiple locations. He is also a visiting medical officer at the Mater Private Hospital (South Brisbane) and a Staff Specialist at Logan Hospital.

Dr Chan's special interest includes cognitive assessments, management of different types of Dementia, Parkinson's Disease, frailty, falls, osteoporosis/ fractures and Comprehensive Geriatrics Assessments.

Dr Chan speaks fluent Cantonese and Mandarin.

Dr Sami Ahmad

MBBS MSc FRACGP EDPM FFPMANZCA FIPP

Dr. Sami Ahmad is a Specialist Pain Medicine Physician with extensive experience from prestigious institutions. He began his career in the United Kingdom, gaining invaluable experience at renowned hospitals, including Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospital in London. In 2008, Dr. Ahmad moved to Australia, where he initially established himself as a General Practitioner.

Dr. Ahmad completed his Fellowships in Pain Medicine at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. He holds Fellowships from the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (Faculty of Pain Medicine, FFPMANZCA) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).

In 2019, Dr. Ahmad was awarded the Ulf Lindblom Prize for achieving the highest mark in the European Diploma in Pain Medicine (EDPM) examination, conducted by the European Pain Federation (EFIC).

Dr. Ahmad's commitment to professional development has recently led him to achieve the status of Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP) from the World Institute of Pain (WIP).

Dr. Ahmad is proficient in both interventional and non-interventional pain management techniques, specializing in the treatment of lower back, neck, and joint pain. He has a particular interest in musculoskeletal pain management and biological therapies for chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis. Utilizing Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), Dr. Ahmad ensures precise diagnosis and targeted guidance for Orthobiologics injections.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Ahmad holds the title of Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland, where he is actively involved in teaching.

Dr. Ahmad consults privately at Southside Specialist Medical & Geriatric Centre, as well as other suites conveniently located in Brisbane, Spring Hill and Sunnybank. He is affiliated with Brisbane Private Hospital, St. Andrew's War Memorial Hospital, and Sunnybank Private Hospital.

Fluent in English, Urdu, and Hindi, Dr. Ahmad is dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to his patients.

Prof M.A. Memon

Professor Memon is a surgeon of over 25 years experience. Having trained in some of the best medical centres in the world, (USA, UK, Ireland) he offers his patients a safe and caring surgical hand. His relentless commitment to continuous professional development ensures his patients always receive the most up to date and evidence-based care.

Professor Memon offers upper and lower gastrointestinal surgery, obesity surgery and endoscopy. Encompassing both open and minimally-invasive techniques Prof Memon performs hernia repair, gallbladder surgery, anti-reflux surgery, colorectal surgery, circumcision, vasectomy, varicose vein surgery, obesity surgery (gastric banding and intragastric balloon) among other general surgical procedures. Prof Memon is a highly experienced endoscopist and dually accredited with the Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Society of Australia (GESA). As such he also offers colonoscopy, gastroscopy, capsule endoscopy and pH & Manometry Studies for reflux disease. Prof Memon also offers select paediatric surgical procedures.

Dr Deepak Darshan

Dr Darshan undertook his primary medical training in India. He went on to do a PhD from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, before moving to Australia. He completed specialist training in Geriatrics at Toowoomba Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane. He became Fellow the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2022. He is also interested in research, has published extensively in national and international journals, and has presented at various meetings. He is also a lecturer at the University of Queensland School of Medicine.

Dr Darshan works as a Consultant Physician at Toowoomba Hospital and also as a Visiting Medical Officer at Wesley Hospital Brisbane. Dr Darshan has private consultation rooms as part of Southside Specialist Medical & Geriatric Centre and runs his private outpatient clinics at multiple locations.

Dr Darshan has a holistic approach to the care of the elderly and aims to provide excellent care addressing all aspects of Geriatric Medicine. Dr Darshan is particularly interested in diagnosing and managing Dementia, conducting comprehensive Geriatric assessments, polypharmacy, falls assessments, Parkinson’s Disease, Stroke, osteoporosis, and peri-operative medicine. He is also interested in longitudinal care of the elderly with complex multi-morbidities.

Outside of medicine, Dr Darshan enjoys bush-walking, cricket and spending time with his family.

Dr Imran Butt

Dr Imran Butt (MBBS, FRACP) is an Australian-trained Endocrinologist and General Physician. He completed his medical degree at King Edward Medical University in Pakistan before undertaking Basic Physician Training at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth. He subsequently moved to Brisbane, where he completed Advanced Physician Training in General Medicine and Endocrinology.

Dr Butt became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and has worked across several major Queensland hospitals, including Princess Alexandra Hospital, Gold Coast University Hospital, Logan Hospital, and Ipswich Hospital.

Dr Butt has a strong academic interest in endocrinology and internal medicine and is actively involved in clinical research. He has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications and has presented his work at national scientific meetings.

Dr Butt has special interests in Diabetes mellitus (Type 1, Type 2, MODY, and other forms), Obesity and metabolic dysfunction–associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), Metabolic bone disease and osteoporosis and Thyroid disorders. He also provides comprehensive endocrine care for Pituitary disorders, Adrenal disorders, Calcium and parathyroid disorders, Lipid disorders, Sodium and electrolyte disturbances and Women’s health and men’s health endocrine conditions

Dr Imran Butt is a member of several professional organisations, including the Endocrine Society of Australia, the Endocrine Society (USA), the Australian Diabetes Society, and the Australian and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society.

Dr Lisa Huang

Dr Lisa Huang grew up in Southeast Queensland and is a locally trained specialist in General Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. She graduated from the University of Queensland School of Medicine with Class I Honours.

She pursued her specialist training at local hospitals, including Logan Hospital, Ipswich Hospital, and The Prince Charles Hospital. She was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2019, specialising in Acute Medicine and Geriatric Medicine, and holds a Diploma in Palliative Care.

Dr Huang is a Staff Specialist at Logan Hospital, focusing on the provision of holistic care within the Acute Medicine team. She is dedicated to patient safety and is actively involved in a number of committees and working groups.

She is a clinical educator with roles in the supervision of both medical students and doctors in training, with a strong focus on mentoring trainees through their specialist examinations. She is also a University of Queensland Senior Lecturer and is involved in examinations.

Dr Huang highly values early comprehensive geriatric care, with a focus on quality of life and future care planning. Her interests include cognitive impairment, falls prevention, and incontinence.
